Professor Jean-Pierre Dufour, has died in Ghana
We have received the sad news today that Professor Jean-Pierre Dufour, has died in Ghana from natural causes. Jean Pierre was last years recipient of the BrewNZ, Life Time Achiever Award. More information to follow as it comes to hand.

We here at Sunshine Brewery would also like to pass on our sincerest condolences to JP's family and close friends.
Charismatic and friendly, a mentor/master brewer our industry could ill-afford to lose. RIP.

our father accomplished many things in his life (which all of you helped us to realise), he made a living doing what he loved. he was a great provider for us and an amazing teacher. he loved new zealand very much and was proud to be a new zealander. We are lost without you, and are thinking of you always.

I am totally shocked and stunned like many of you, by the news of Professor J-P Dufour's sudden death. I had the privilege of working with J-P for a few years and boy he was one of the best people I've ever worked for.Very caring and just so down to earth. Made you feel very much at home and had a unique style all of his own. First class scientist and excellent leader.What a big loss.Deeepest condolences and prayers go out to Lysiane and family.
I am very saddened by the news that Professor Jean-Pierre Dufour has died. I was a student of his in 1996 and he was an excellent lecturer.The knowledge and experience this man had was very special(and one of a kind. He can never be replaced. I and many students all over the world who were taught by J-P will always remember his passion, love and infinite enthusiasm for science. The world has lost a wonderful lecturer, scientist, researcher and man full of vision for his field. RIP J-P.My sympathy goes out to his family.
This cannot be true about J-P.I was surfing the net and found your notice about his death.I met Professour Dufour when I attended a Flavour Science short course in Food Science department at Otago in 1995.J-P made the course so interesting that I went away with so much information about Flavour Science. He was just so knowledgeable about the areas he specialised in, that from memory all the other course attendees were very impressed. I'm very sad to hear of his passing away.He certainly made a very lasting impression on me and I'm sure numerous others.I will always remember you Professor Dufour and thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with so many like me.
I too was shocked and saddened to hear the news of JP's passing. He was a co-supervisor of mine at University and I have him to thank for my interest in beer and hops that has continued well past studying. I can't imagine what the Food Science Dept will do without him. He was friendly, inspiring and always willing to help anyone. He will be greatly missed.
