Regional beer losing flavour

Speight's and premium beers are continuing to make inroads in the regional beer market as drinkers become more "promiscuous", Lion Nathan chief executive Rob Murray says.

"Most drinkers would say they have a mainstream brand (such as Speight's), a local premium such as Steinlager, and then a premium like a Stella or a Heineken. Beer drinkers are becoming more promiscuous. The most obvious success is Speight's – it has taken a lot of Canterbury Draught drinkers away."
